There are a lot of towns in Germany named Griesheim and a lot more with sound-alike names. I checked out quit a few archives but haven't been able to find Andrew's birth record nor those of his parents or siblings in the Griesheims where I looked, but there still are a few Griesheims and sound-alikes in which to look. I don't know for certain who Andrew's siblings are.
Andrew, in official records, always insists that he is from Baden, Germany, so this narrows the field tremendously, except that Baden traditionally extended across the Rhine into what is today, France. My Dad always said that the Englers were from Alsace-Loraine, the French side of Baden. There are a number of Griesheims there near Strasbourg. I haven't checked all these out yet.
Heller Smith, my uncle whose wife was Dad's older sister, always said that the Englers were Prussian. Prussia is a little north of Baden nearer to Luxembourg. If so, perhaps Andrew was from a "Griesheim" near Bitburg.
