FUNERAL TOOK PLACE LAST FRIDAY MORNING AT 9:30 AT WORTHINGTON.

Worthington, Ia., Dec. 30.  The funeral of the late Mrs. Margaret Engler, mention of whose death was made in last week's issue of the Commercial, took place here Friday morning, at 9:30 o'clock, from the home of her son Prosper J., to where the remains were taken upon their arrival here from Dubuque. Requiem mass was said for the repose of her soul by Rev. Father J. H. Schilmoeller, after which, interment was made in St. Paul's cemetery, her remains being laid in rest beside those of her late husband. Rev. Schilmoeller also officiated at the services at the grave.

  The casket bearers were six of the grandchildren of the deceased, Messrs. N. J. Ernster, Andrew Engler, Edgar Engler, Norbert Engler, Laverne Engler and Albert Weber.

  Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Sister Mary Alberta and Sister Mary Marcellina, both of Ottumwa, John Braun of LeMars, Mrs. C. A. Bauer of Iowa City, Peter Gasspard of Caledonia, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Less and son Frank, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Staner and family, Mrs. John Less and family all of Cascade, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Engler, Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew E. Engler, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Ernster and family, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Ernster and family, Mr. and Mrs. Prosper Pettinger and Mr. Valentine Christoph, all of Dyersville, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Weber, Mr. Albert Weber, Mrs. Jesse Irvin, Mrs. John Bohnhauser, Miss Mary Staner and Mrs. Smith, all of Dubuque, Mr. John P. Achen of Kirksville, Missouri.

  Mrs. Engler's maiden name was Miss Margaret Less, and she was born in Medinger, Luxemburg, Germany on June 22, 1831. She was 93 years and six months old at the time of her demise which occurred at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Weber at 828 Lawther Avenue, Dubuque, on Tuesday morning, December 23, 1924, at 1 o'clock a.m. When a young girl, deceased came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Less, locating at Cascade, Iowa.

  In the year, 1849, deceased was united in marriage to Mr. Andrew Engler in the Catholic church at Cascade, after which they settled down on a farm. To this union thirteen children were born, two dying in infancy and three others preceded her in death, namely, Margaret, Mrs. A. McVey, John A. Engler and Pauline, Mrs. Val Christoph. Her husband preceded her to the grave twenty-five years ago. Those surviving her are: Frank, Theodore and Prosper Engler of Worthington, Peter of Stuart, Neb.; Mary, Mrs. Ed. Ferguson of Dubuque; Minnie, Mrs. J. V. Weber of Dubuque and Amelda, Mrs. John P. Achen of Kirksville, Mo. One sister, Mrs. Mary Staner of Dubuque survives and also 46 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

  For the past fourteen years, Mrs. Engler has made her home in Dubuque and prior to that, her entire married life was spent on a farm near Worthington. Mrs. Engler was a consistent member of the Catholic church and passed away well prepared with its last rites. She was a devoted wife and mother and reared a family of children, of whom she could feel justly proud. She was a kind and loyal neighbor and was held in high esteem by countless friends. Living to the ripe old age of 93 years, is an age allotted to very few, and during the span of years lived, Mrs. Engler saw many changes in this world from a progressive point of view. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to those left to mourn her loss.
